Basic Job Functions:
The Quality Lead responsibilities include but are not limited to, overseeing all aspects of quality, including fit and function, along with documentation compliance. Serves as the facility's Leadership Representative on his/her respective shift. Assisting team members with interpreting shop drawings, QMS requirements, and customer specifications, including obtaining clarification from other functions to ensure that quality requirements are understood and met. Help execute the overall quality strategy to meet the Design of Steel Transmission Pole Structures (ASCE48), the American Welding Society D1.1 requirements, and Nucor Towers and Structures objectives.
- Support the implementation of quality management systems, best practices, and processes
- Contain, evaluate, and disposition nonconforming products; investigate the root cause of nonconformances.
- Assist team members with completing any certifications necessary to perform their duties.
- Train the team on quality requirements, procedures, testing, and usage of measuring tools
- Identify potential areas of risk and make recommendations for solutions.
- Identify process improvement initiatives and help execute projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC)
- Work with the plant team on root cause analysis and corrective action resolutions. Perform inspection and testing duties as required by customer specifications and other requirements that provide acceptance criteria for NTS products.
- Other duties as assigned by the Quality Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate's degree with at least 3 years of quality control/Non-Destructive Testing experience, OR
- At least 5 years of quality control experience in a manufacturing/fabrication facility.
- 5+ years of experience with AISC or ISO quality systems.
- Ability to interpret codes and standards, shop drawings, and customer specifications.
- Highly adaptable, able to quickly adjust to shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment while maintaining a positive attitude and a proactive approach to getting things done promptly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and make informed, rational, data-driven decisions with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS in Leadership or Business Administration
- NDT Level II in Ultrasonic Shear wave, Magnetic Particle and Visual Testing
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector
Extensive knowledge of AWS D1.1 code
