Basic Job Functions:
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Responsibilities for the Machine Operator include but are not limited to:
• Perform the startup and shutdown procedures for the assigned production line area.
• Perform all of the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, taping, de-burring, molding and all bench operations, as well as the inspection of them.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance duties.
• Report any malfunctions or abnormalities with equipment to the maintenance team.
• Complete reports and answer inquires, as requested or assigned.
• Accurately record all material usage.
• Maintain cleanliness of the assigned production line area.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Perform all other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
• Excellent attendance and safety record
• Knowledge of basic machine functions
• Knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Excel
Detailed Selection Criteria:
• Strong commitment to SAFETY & QUALITY in all aspects of the job.
• Demonstrated ability to read/understand product prints.
• Positive problem solver with excellent analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated self-starter with high energy, self-discipline, and exhibits a sense of urgency.
• Ability to successfully work in a TEAM environment.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot equipment.
• Demonstrates good housekeeping and ownership.
Preferences:
• 1 year experience in a production environment.
• Open communication
• Understanding of machine setup and tear down.
• Use of HMIs
• Overhead crane experience
• Basic understanding of automation
