Safety & Health Coordinator

Basic Job Functions:

The Safety & Health Coordinator will provide professional support to improve and sustain the safety & health of all teammates. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Must adhere to Nucor's safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor's vision and values.
• Support division safety performance, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations, including OSHA.
• Support division with all aspects of field/shop safety teams and programs.
• Collaborate across departments on safety projects, initiatives, and analysis.
• Maintain and report safety data – KPI statistics, training, compliance records, confidential records, safety management system, etc.
• Be available to address and participate in on-call and/or after-hours onsite safety needs.
• Assist in and/or oversee the incident analysis and root cause analysis program.
• Assist in coordination of the contractor safety program, requirements, and monitor performance.
• Coordinate, schedule, track, update, and/or deliver division safety training and culture-building activities, including onboarding and annual training.
• Analyze compliance, inspections, and auditing of safety efforts.
• Develop, maintain, and evaluate job safety analyses and procedures.
• Coordinate the onsite Emergency Response program and routine audits.
• Communicate safety information (flyers, alerts, presentations, etc.).
• Assist with planning and coordinating division activities and events.
• Maintain the department webpage, dashboards, and online safety platforms.
• Participate in and lead the division in regional and product group safety initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned by the Plant Support Supervisor.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to work overtime when required.
• Ability to gain and maintain Emergency Medical Responder Certification.
• Ability to gain and maintain Mental Health First Aid Certification.
