Basic Job Functions:

Responsibilities for the Plant Support Supervisor include but are not limited to:

  • A commitment to Safety, Environmental, Quality, Productivity and Profitability through leadership throughout the division.
  • Overseeing the Production Schedule, Production Control, EHS and Production Quality team, procedures, along with other production supporting teams and processes including but not limited to the various division coordinator positions, the Tool Crib and others.
  • Managing production schedules, material needs, equipment upgrades and implementation, product flow and material handling for each of the respective production lines within the plant.
  • Responsibilities include oversight of Receiving departments including safely unloading trucks, coil cards, receiving documentation, incoming material inspections, material placement, organization, teammate schedules, receiving schedules, moving material to production lines as needed, assist in scrap shipments and other functions as needed.
  • Communications within the group ensure solid teamwork and a productive work environment.
  • Reviewing teammate performance and determining coaching needs through evaluating and providing consistent performance reviews and setting expectations during coaching or growth & development sessions. Interviewing, hiring and accountability for department.
  • Ability to travel 15% of the time. At times with short notice.
  • Best mark with other Nucor divisions to continually improve our services, quality, products, and competitiveness.
  • Develop the members of the department beyond the basic functions of their role including, but not limited to, business acumen, people skills and the like to help them reach their full potential.
  • Actively engage with the Production Manager and other members of Division Leadership to strategically plan and execute initiatives to improve safety, quality, efficiency and profitability.  
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Production Manager.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years leadership experience including overseeing direct reports and experience with coaching and mentoring.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record of identifying trends, setting priorities, and aligning actions with broader business goals.
  • Proficient with D-365.
