Maintenance/Machinist Technician

This teammate will play a key role in supporting production through safe, reliable, and proactive maintenance of equipment and facility systems. Basic Job Functions:
- Daily Responsibilities: Operation of manual Lathes, Mills, Surface Grinders, sharpening of dies, punches and shears.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose mechanical
lissues on machinery and systems, identifying root causes and completing repairs in a timely, safe manner. - Support Plant Operations: Partner closely with production and other departments to minimize downtime, support day-to-day needs, and plan future maintenance activities.
- Continuous Improvement & Automation: Assist in projects that enhance productivity, efficiency, and plant automation; identify opportunities for process improvement and equipment upgrades.
- Documentation & Tracking: Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment logs, and production tracking to support reliability and continuous improvement efforts.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment through proactive hazard recognition and safe work practices.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a Maintenance/Machinist setting, or education in a related field
- Experience with Manual Mills, Lathes and Surface Grinders set-up and operation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-craft experience (electrical, mechanical, machining, welding, etc.)
- Knowledge of hydraulic system design and repair
- Experience in Auto Cad or similar programs.
- Experience in die, punch and shear sharpening
- Additional technical or engineering-related education or certifications
