1st Shift Support Services Guard (Guard Shack)

Nucor Building Systems Indiana (NBSIN) is hiring a Guard Shack teammate to support site access, safety communication, and daily traffic coordination at our facility. This role is critical to keeping plant operations running smoothly by serving as the first point of contact for visitors, contractors, and deliveries. The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive, and takes pride in maintaining a safe and well-organized environment.

Basic Job Functions:

  • Gate Monitoring: Oversee and monitor all visitor, contractor, and vendor traffic entering and exiting the plant.
  • Visitor Safety Communication: Share site-specific safety guidelines and expectations with all visitors, vendors, and contractors.
  • Traffic Coordination: Help maintain an organized and steady flow of incoming and outgoing loads and vehicles.
  • Gate Pass Tracking: Issue and track gate passes to ensure accurate access records.
  • Shipping Documentation Support: Assist with issuing and logging shipping documentation in the system.
  • PPE & Visitor Support: Provide required PPE and visitor passes upon entry and ensure items are returned upon departure.
  • Emergency Procedure Awareness: Communicate basic emergency procedures related to fire, spills, accidents, and severe weather.
  • Guard Shack Upkeep: Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked guard shack.
  • Mail & Package Handling: Receive and distribute UPS/FedEx deliveries and deliver mail to the office daily.
  • Environmental and Safety Awareness: Maintain awareness of plant activity, property, and traffic conditions; report any concerns to the Safety Coordinator or Hazmat team.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite, to include MS Office and Teams
