Basic Job Functions:

The Melt Shop Utility responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  safely operating and performing maintenance on all area equipment and providing support to other area team members; maintain housekeeping across the melt shop; operate the slab slitter, mobile equipment, and overhead cranes; unloading trucks and getting stock to all areas of the melt shop.  It is also important to participate in all training and development programs.  Nucor teammates are expected to participate in and promote an atmosphere of cooperation and team work while maintaining compliance in all areas of the site within our Quality Control System.  This is a rotating shift position.  Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Experience working in the Melting/Casting Department

 

Physical Demands

 

•    Lift up to 50 lbs frequently
•    Traverse stairs and perform various manual tasks
•    Operate mobile equipment


Environmental Demands

 

•    Work rotating shifts in extreme temperatures
•    Work in a dusty environment around fumes and vibrations

 

Pay Grade 2 + Production Bonus
