NTP Trinity - Automation Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Tubular Products - Trinity is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Automation Engineer. This role is part of the Maintenance and Engineering Team and will be responsible for working with the Electrical / Mechanical Maintenance and Production teams to maintain and optimize the Mill process automation. This will include using engineering principles, algorithms and techniques to trouble-shoot and improve automation for both the process and equipment and to develop/implement future improvement plans. The successful candidate will be required to have knowledge of both hardware and software and will be required to give automation support outside normal business hours, as well as other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Electrical Engineering Degree with 4 years’ experience, or 8 years’ technical experience.
• Thorough understanding of complex control systems including PID control.
• Proven experience leading complex projects.
• Experience with Siemens, and Rockwell Automation PLC’s, HMI’s and VFD’s in a steel process.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Tubular, HSS, or cold rolling/forming processes.
• Knowledge of advanced hydraulic control systems
• Knowledge of AC\DC drives and motors
