Basic Job Functions:
The Melt and Cast Process Engineer is the primary technical resource for EAF/LMF process optimization and steelmaking practices. This position works closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering to improve Melt Shop productivity, energy efficiency, refractory performance, and steel quality through data-driven process improvements and sound metallurgical practices. Additional responsibilities include:
• Providing day-to-day technical support for melt shop Electric Arc Furnace and Ladle Metallurgical Furnace operations.
• Developing and implementing EAF operating practices, including optimization of power input, burner profiles, oxygen practices, and furnace chemistry
• Developing and implementing LMF clean steel practices, including alloy additions and recovery, slag control and desulfurization, argon stirring and inclusion control.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to steelmaking processes.
• Monitoring and improving process consistency, steel cleanliness, and product quality.
• Partnering with operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to solve technical and production challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of four years of hands-on experience supporting EAF and/or LMF steelmaking operations in a melt shop. Candidates must be able to demonstrate direct involvement in process control, troubleshooting, data analysis, and implementation of operating improvements.
• Ability to work safely and effectively with operators, maintenance, quality, and engineering
• Willingness to provide daily floor support, including response to urgent production issues
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
