Basic Job Functions:

Provide leadership and guidance to build an accident-free workplace.  Support the Hot Mill and/or Cold Mill area Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams by providing timely information as it relates to structures, platforms, access ladders, stairs, and foundations. placing emphasis on safety, equipment reliability, and cost control.  The Civil/Structural Engineer will provide project management and technical oversight for civil and structural engineering scopes across capital projects, maintenance initiatives, and facility improvements. This role focuses on project execution, coordination, and quality assurance rather than primary design production. The position serves as Nucor’s engineering representative, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.  

 

The successful candidate will also be available as a technical resource and subject matter expert for engineeringmaintenance, and operations. The candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to engineering ethics and department goals, be self-motivated, and articulate and make effective decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering or Related Construction Field 

  1. 3 years of experience in structural engineering field (Design or Construction) 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Degree emphasis in Structures 

  1. Professional Engineer (FE and/or PE) 

  1. RISA-3D/Navisworks Experience 

  1. Experience utilizing laser scanning technology to aid with design
