Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Decatur is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team and support our commitment to safety, profitability, and development. As Accounting Manager, you will lead a high-performing team, influence data-driven decision making, and drive results across the operation. This position requires strong leadership, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to promote continuous improvement and teamwork in a dynamic environment.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Key Functions:
• Lead and coach the accounting team, championing professional growth and skill development.
• Oversee accounting operations including financial reporting to ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and the best accounting principles.
• Leverage financial analysis to inform strategic decisions and improve cost performance.
• Collaborate across departments and divisions to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Safeguard company assets by implementing and maintaining effective internal controls and procedures.
• Support innovation in accounting practices by encouraging process improvements and leveraging new technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Four years of accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
