Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Decatur is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to support division-level accounting activities. This role is responsible for general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and upholding internal controls while supporting Nucor’s commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Job Responsibilities:
1. Perform general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
2. Support month-end close processes and preparation of financial reports
3. Assist with internal control compliance and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
4. Analyze financial data, identify issues, and perform root cause analysis
5. Develop and maintain Excel-based tools to support reporting and data analysis

Minimum Qualifications:
1. 4-year B.S. Accounting/Finance; will consider other relevant degrees
2. Computer Skills – Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and other Office Products
3. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Accounting experience in a manufacturing company
2. 2 or more years of steel industry experience
3. Oracle, EIS or GL Connect Experience
