Equipment Operator- Topeka

Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

1. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.

2. Operate small equipment such as a fork lift and skid steer. Willingness to learn to operate heavy equipment of various sizes including cranes and loaders, etc.
3. Duties include, but are not limited to: pushing shred pile up, moving material throughout the yard, and/or loading trucks, etc.
4. Perform daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
5. Keep grounds clear of debris while maintaining safety standards.
6. General labor duties include general clean-up of any area and/or equipment throughout the yard.
7. Effectively communicate over radio with teammates for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures.
8. Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other teammates as needed.
9. Other duties as assigned by your manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Experience operating fork lift and skid steer.  Loader, Crane/Excavator experience a plus.
2. Must be willing to learn 
3. Must be willing to be a team player
4. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
5. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependency and consistency

Preferences:

1. Includes being outdoors in all weather conditions
2. Schedule Mon- Fri: 7:45am - 4:30pm / Saturday 7:45am - Noon
