Basic Job Functions:
Responsibilities for a Structural Inspector include, but are not limited to:
Safety, this is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Work as part of the Quality Control Team (Standards & Certifications Coordinator, Internal Audit Team, Inspectors and NDT Inspectors) to help insure we can maintain all the necessary accreditations and certifications.
Gathering, creating, and maintaining records involving, but not limited to pass/fail rates for the plant and individual teammates, logging UT hours, in process checks, fit up quality, primer quality and tolerance checks.
Facilitating training based on team or individual performance and evolving quality standards.
Seeking continuous improvement in every facet of team performance with a keen emphasis on safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
Assist with the writing and investigation of internal quality reports, non-conformances and IQR’s.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Ability to read and understand various detailing assembly reports or part drawings.
Direct knowledge of fit up and weld standards per AWS.
• Ability to read a tape measure, micrometer and other measuring instruments.
• Strong knowledge of computers and spreadsheets
• Have, or have the ability, to achieve, forklift and crane certifications.
• Availability to travel
• Willing to give a 2-year commitment to the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience with fabrication or detailing of metal building systems components.
• Prior experience working within a defined Quality Management System and possess a general understanding of basic Quality Control practices and guidelines.
• Current CWI certification
• Current NDT certifications
• Direct knowledge of fit up and weld standards per CWB W47.1
