Basic Job Functions:
The primary function of the Design Engineer is to design open web steel joists and steel deck and ensure that all products meet the design requirements for projects varying from small gas stations to large athletic stadiums and multimillion square foot warehouses located across the country. The Design Engineer responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design work in accordance with industry standards and Vulcraft manufacturing processes
- Review contract documents such as structural drawings, architectural drawings, and project specifications
- Provide direction and technical support to detailers, shop orders, and production teammates during project development, design and fabrication
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, including other design professionals
- Promote Vulcraft products with specifiers or at conventions
This position is a salaried position plus ROA bonus. Occasional travel is required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future)

Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Civil Engineering degree with emphasis in structures
PE license and/or SE
MS in Civil (Structural focus) from an ABET accredited program
