Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Fastener, a division of Nucor Corporation, is hiring a Process Engineer to join our team and play a key role in optimizing our production operations. Our teammate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency, drive process improvements, and strengthen quality and safety within production.

 

You will be responsible for things such as:

 

  • Working closely with production and quality teams to develop sustainable production techniques and improve operational efficiency.
  • Conducting detailed root cause analysis to identify bottlenecks and resolve process failures.
  • Providing operational support to production operations as needed.
  • Assisting in the implementation of safety, cost, efficiency, and quality improvements.
  • Leading and organizing design, procurement, construction, and start-up activities to support process improvement initiatives.

 

This position requires up to 15% travel.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical degree in a related field (e.g., Automotive Management, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in quality, operations, or manufacturing 
  • Heat treating experience or a mix of metallurgical education and hands-on heat treating 
  • Six Sigma/Lean certification with experience in statistical processes 
  • Experience in failure analysis using root cause methods (8D, 5 Whys) 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint
