Shift:

This is a weekend position. Availability is required Friday through Sunday. Final shift hours will be determined during the hiring process based on business needs.

Basic Job Functions:

The Lab Tech on weekend shift tests product samples to ensure they are in compliance with established specifications and standards. They also contribute to improvement of the Nucor Fastener Quality Management System through participation in the IATF 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025 certification programs. Lab testing includes product characteristics such as: dimensional, proof load, tensile properties, hardness, magnetic  particle, micro-hardness, rotational capacity, tension control assembly testing, hydrogen embrittlement testing, and  others. Additional job duties will include any other task assigned by the supervisor.  

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.       

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and/or holidays   

 

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Post-secondary coursework in a technical field 

•    Experience with a quality management system (i.e., ISO9001, IATF16949).   

•    Familiarity of quality related documentation such as GRR, MSA, PPAP, FMEA, etc.   

•    Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
