Product Development Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

The role of Product Development Engineer requires a fundamental understanding of automotive products, thus equipping the individual to collaboratively develop essential tools and processes that enhance yield, reduce internal rejects, and optimize performance across various grades. The candidate should have insight into the competitive marketplace and automotive products necessary to further expand Nucor's product portfolio, grow market share, and profitability, particularly in more advanced grades where cost competitiveness is critical. This position serves as a mill-facing resource and supports the Nucor Sheet Group to expand our automotive expertise.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Collaborate with mills to optimize process variables, especially on AHSS
2. Partner with Product Development Manager to identify & explore grade design opportunities
3. Implement new grade designs on commercial scale
4. Update process cost information as needed
5. Provide the sales team with necessary resources to enhance sales strategies and customer interactions
6. Ability to travel overnight as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

1. BS in science, engineering, or related technical discipline
2. 10 years automotive steel and/or materials-related experience
