Basic Job Functions:
Leading Sedalia team through education about behaviors and processes and advancing the safety mindset. Act as rebar expert by working with the Team to improve production reliability Maximize profitability by empowering the team to understand the financial impacts of process decisions. Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs. Uphold safety policies and procedures, assess performance of the team, crew, and department. Serve as a resource for operating crews, lead throughout the plant and participate in strategic planning for the department. Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information. Develop, coordinate, or monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs. Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions. Develop or test models of alternate designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or necessity of modification. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design, performance specifications, or environmental regulations.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and twelve (12) months (per F.b.4.b above) of experience as a process engineer in a bar rolling mill in the steel industry. Experience must include: Root cause analysis (“RCA”) and investigation including analysis of customer claims, incidents, failing physical properties, etc. in order to propose appropriate solutions; Cross functional team leadership aimed to improve safety, quality, productivity and profitability while reducing costs; Facilitating software & equipment upgrades to roll mill (Quality Management Operating System (QMOS), Russula automation upgrade). Reporting and Data Analysis (created SQL reports, excel macros & pivot tables, KPI reports, scorecards etc). Identify utilization losses, metallurgical or dimensional defects and utilizing Russula technical solutions, optimize the process to improve productivity and production control.
