Basic Job Functions:
- Fabricate new metal components in accordance with product data sheets and in compliance with all applicable standards of safety and performance.
- Perform welding repairs as needed
- Perform routine maintenance of the MIG welder and related equipment
- Position and secure parts, using hoists, cranes, wire, and banding machine hand tools.
- Coordinate workflow with other members of the team
- Execute particular welds in a professional manner, examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Work independently or with a small team of other welders to complete large and complex projects.
- Reads and comprehends construction drawings and specifications
- Understand and properly use adequate PPE at all times.
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervision
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidates will be required to complete and pass an internal welding test.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, work instructions, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to use and read measuring tape
- Ability to read and understand calibrations
- Ability to execute basic welding techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent
- 1-2 years of welding experience.
- Possess the ability to work with hand tools.
