Basic Job Functions:

The Purchasing Administrator supports Nucor Data Systems by coordinating purchase orders, maintaining supplier records, and ensuring accurate data in procurement systems. This role serves as a key link between suppliers, internal departments, and the Purchasing team to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while upholding Nucor’s values of safety, integrity, and teamwork.

Job Description

  • Process and track purchase orders in Nucor Data Systems, ensuring accuracy in pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.
  • Maintain vendor and supplier files, contracts, and documentation in compliance with company policies.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, lead times, and any discrepancies.
  • Support the Purchasing team in sourcing materials, equipment, and services as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in coordinating replenishment to meet production needs.
  • Verify invoices against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with Accounts Payable.
  • Assist with reporting, data entry, and analysis related to purchasing activities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Production, Engineering, Finance, and Logistics) to ensure timely procurement of materials.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes and data accuracy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of vendor and pricing information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 – 4 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or administrative support experience.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of purchasing or supply chain.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with ERP or procurement systems (experience with Nucor Data Systems a plus).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
