Basic Job Functions:

The Process Improvement Engineer is primarily responsible for Continuous Improvement of our Manufacturing Processes. Safety is a focus of all teammates and responsibilities will include upholding safety standards, practicing good housekeeping, and leading/participating on teams for improvement and problem solving. They will help lead projects that establish and improve process efficiency, reduce waste, improve cost, minimize variation and improve control. The Process Engineer will assist operations and maintenance in equipment modifications, planning of upgrades and outages, vendor development, and training of teammates. They need to be skilled in the use of production and control technologies, problem solving methods in process control, data, and statistical. Job Description

  • Lead and support Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Uphold and actively promote all safety standards, policies, procedures, and housekeeping practices.
  • Identify, analyze, and implement solutions to reduce waste, minimize process variation, and improve cost control.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams on equipment modifications, upgrades, and outage planning.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to drive problem-solving and process optimization.
  • Support vendor development and coordinate with external partners for process and equipment improvements.
  • Utilize production and control technologies, data analysis, and statistical methods to evaluate and improve processes.
  • Provide training and guidance to teammates on process improvements, safety practices, and new technologies.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on process performance to ensure sustained improvement.
  • Serve as a technical resource to troubleshoot issues and provide solutions for process-related challenges.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or School of Technology or has 4 years of process improvement experience in a suitable role within product assembly and manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical problem-solving methods.
  • Ability to lead projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to upholding safety standards, practices, and procedures.

Preferences:

  • Proven understanding of Data Acquisition and Analysis.
  • Professional certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement.
  • Experience with manufacturing process control systems and automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of equipment design, modifications, and maintenance planning.
  • Previous experience working in steel or heavy manufacturing industries.
