Basic Job Functions:
The Day Supervisor will promote and enhance Safety as our #1 value. The Day Supervisor will establish expectations, develop best practices; ensure consistency and reliability in the operations. Responsibilities also include assessing team member performance. The Day Supervisor will evaluate division needs, develop team members, serve as a resource for the operation teams; lead collaborations throughout the plant and participate in strategic planning for the division. The Day Supervisor will be responsible for successful capital project development and execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for all areas of production to ensure interdepartmental collaboration.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Job Responsibilities
- Promote and reinforce safety as the top priority across all shifts and teams.
- Oversee daily production operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and consistency across departments.
- Monitor and adjust daily activities to meet production targets and customer demands.
- Drive accountability and recognize achievements to foster high performance and engagement.
- Ensure consistency in workflows, processes, and documentation.
- Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Facilitate open communication across departments to ensure seamless execution of goals and objectives.
- Participate in division-level strategic planning to align daily operations with long-term goals.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on operational trends, workforce needs, and business forecasts.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and aligned with strategic goals.
- Analyze production data and operational reports to identify inefficiencies or opportunities.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for recurring issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of previous Supervisory or Management experience.
- Minimum 5 years of product manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 1 year of project execution and management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years leadership experience in Nucor.
- Four-year college degree or other education, training or certifications that show the desire for growth and personal development.
- Willingness to relocate for future opportunities at advancement
- Fluent in English and Spanish
