Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Skyline Steel, LLC is seeking an innovative and dynamic leader to lead the Health and Safety functions of the division. This position will provide safety expertise and strategic support to the division as part of our challenge to be the world’s safest steel company. The job functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
•    Build relationships to drive continued excellence and engagement in safety culture and performance, challenging the status quo.
•    Collaborate with division’s teams on recognizing hazards and finding engineering solutions.
•    Regularly conduct safety audits in our facilities and provide coaching and feedback to teammates and departments as needed.
•    Develop and produce reports on Health & Safety issues; analyze trends and collaborate with operations to determine areas to address as needed.
•    Assist and advise management on areas of concern, providing vital support and advice during investigations and major incidents.
•    Develop, implement, and manage the safety training programs and systems.
•    Lead case management & facilitation of occupational health resources including workers compensation.
•    Lead initiatives on a variety of safety related projects in the spirit of continuous improvement.
•    Benchmark with other Nucor divisions on safety related initiatives, projects, policies, and procedures
•    Ensure division is aligned with all federal, state, and local laws/regulations, including OSHA standards.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of three years related experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience in serving in a supervisory role.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety or equivalent with 5+ years of experience
OSHA 10/30hr Authorized Trainer, or able to obtain within first 12 months
Experience as First Responder or Hazardous Materials Response Team
