Basic Job Functions:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Engineering Lead to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for both team leadership and project execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, proven leadership skills, and familiarity with steel transmission pole design and fabrication.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of structural engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities for the team
• Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and encourages professional growth
• Ensure projects are completed on time, and in accordance with safety and quality standards
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, procurement, and external contractors
• Develop and maintain current design policies, procedures, and practices
• Reviewing, checking, and sealing structural drawings
• Provide technical support to and collaborate with sales, detailing, project management, and production teammates

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any US state
• Minimum 2 years of experience designing steel utility pole structures
• Proven experience in leading teams and managing projects
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, timelines, and competing priorities effectively
• Travel approximately 20% of the time to visit customers and to NTS sites in West Hazleton, PA, Decatur, AL, Crawfordsville, IN, and Brigham City, UT

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in engineering or business
• Structural Engineer licensure in any state or Model Law Structural Engineer designation
• PLS-Pole knowledge, or similar software
• Experience in a customer-facing work environment
