User Experience Designer and Researcher

Are you an experienced Ux Designer and Researcher with a passion for technology and User Empathy? Nucor Buildings Group is seeking a passionate and user-centered UX Researcher and Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding user needs through research and translating those insights into intuitive, engaging, and accessible design solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to shape the user experience across our products, ensuring that design decisions are grounded in real user behavior and data.

Basic Job Functions:

  • UX Expertise:
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teammates, including Pre-Sales, Sales, Post-Sales, Engineering, and Marketing, to define key UX research objectives and goals throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Own the end-to-end research process, including scoping UX research, recruiting participants, preparing discussion guides/protocols, gathering insights through various UX research methods, synthesizing and analyzing insights, and delivering findings.
    • Conduct user-centric research studies with internal teammates and with customers in the field using diverse Ux Research methods such as think-aloud testing, usability testing, concept testing, contextual inquiry, in-depth interviews, diary studies, shadowing, and fly-on-the-wall observations.
    • Translate research findings into actionable insights and strategic narratives through compelling storytelling and creative artifacts, including reports such as personas, experience journey maps (both current and future states)
    • Perform desk research to systematically identify relevant internal and external data sources, gathering insights about trends and competition. Analyze the data and report findings to draw conclusions on trends and competition.
    • UI Design: Transform UX research insights into tangible conceptual solutions by developing information architecture, task flows, low-fidelity UI mockups, and high-fidelity UI Design, pixel-perfect alignment with a cohesive design language system. Create clickable prototypes using Figma.

 

 

  • Collaboration: Partner with Nucor Buildings Group Leadership and other product group peers to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Feasibility Analysis: Conduct feasibility analysis on potential future projects and emerging technologies.
  • Innovation: Research, evaluate, and recommend innovative techniques to enhance the development and delivery of software solutions with a focus on effectiveness and security.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by setting goals and milestones and ensuring they are achieved.
  • Communication Skills: Exhibit strong verbal, written, and graphical communication skills for effective internal and external interactions.

 

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ux Design, Ux Research, Human Factors, Interaction Design, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Information Science, Communication design, or related discipline. Equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in B2B Enterprise level Ux Design and Research
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in large scale, complex cloud-based enterprise wide UX Design
  • Experience in building and maintaining design libraries and systems ( Figma, Atomic Design Ethics)
  • Knowledge of software development best practices and Agile Ux
  • Proficiency in Figma and Design Language System development
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for Visa sponsorship? (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a Visa now or in the future)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ of experience in UX/ UI
  • Communication and Visual Design
  • Visual storyboarding and Storytelling Skills
  • Experience working within the principles of Agile development practices.
  • Experience in Design for accessibility and testing tools (E.g. Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse or related) for audits and validation
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies.

Job Location:

This role can report to an office in Portland, TN, Waterloo, IN or Swansea, SC depending on the candidate’s preferred location/proximity. This is not a remote position.
