Basic Job Functions:
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities involved in the facilities within their region, including providing a safe and compliant environment for teammates and customers, creating a positive customer experience while working towards profitability and meeting the company’s objectives through efficient operations and best practices. The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating production and inventory levels, safety, and environmental programs, and developing and retaining their team throughout the region.
Safety
• Create, maintain, and support a Safety-First culture in each plant. Every decision by the teammates or managers should reflect this culture.
• Manage and maintain a safe workplace for teammates; strive for a goal of zero accidents.
Financial/Business
• Responsible for operating budget. Effectively achieve results by engaging and leading other management level personnel.
• Anticipate and act on changing factors in the business environment.
• Develop, understand, and execute operating and capital budgets and forecasts.
• Interpret complex financials, market data and trends to model different scenarios for operations based on changing industry, market, and economic conditions.
• Consistently achieve results listed above while exhibiting workplace behaviors consistent with Nucor values and core competency expectations.
Human Resources
• Teammates: range of teammates responsible for is 50-170.
• Select, lead, and develop supervisor-level personnel with varied levels of experience, including management trainees.
• Ability to support Facility Managers in execution of their responsibilities.
Operations
• Conduct reviews of plant operations with supervisors, including safety and compliance, performance objectives and review financial and budget results.
• Identify key success factors in operations and lead duplication efforts.
Leadership
• Translate the vision and business strategy into goals and objectives for the department, facilities and individual.
• Represent the organization in regional community and political matters educating elected officials, business, and community leaders on our industry.
• Work in a team environment with a peer group of professionals and corporate staff and create a team environment within their region and other departments within the organization.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with peers and other business units and work collaboratively.
Minimum Qualifications:

5 years’ experience in operations, industrial or manufacturing environments including heavy industrial equipment.

3 years' management experience of exempt or nonexempt personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline, strongly preferred. Master’s degree a plus.
