Safety Intern

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Cold Finish Nebraska is seeking to fill the positions of a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Intern to join our team at our division. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of industrial safety within a leadingsteel manufacturing company. The Safety Intern will assist the Safety Coordinator in implementing and maintaining safety programs, conducting safety audits, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the facility.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
2. Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
3. Participate in incident investigations and help develop corrective actions.
4. Support safety training programs and initiatives. Maintain safety records and documentation.
5. Collaborate with various departments to promote safety awareness.
6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Safety team

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science,or a related field.
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Graduating in May 2027
2. Previous internship or work experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
3. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
4. Experience with safety management systems and software.
5. First Aid/CPR certification.
