Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel – Nebraska is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Safety Engineer.  The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, working closely with teammates, contractors, and leadership to ensure safety compliance; Promoting workplace safety by identifying and controlling potential hazards; Developing and/or reviewing safety programs to determine their adequacy; Being on call 24/7; Safety and health training and auditing. Candidate will perform moderate physical activity such as walking in all areas of a large industrial facility, climbing stairs/fixed ladders, working at an elevated location, standing for prolonged periods of time. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor Steel Nebraska will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4-Year Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field; and/or equivalent years of experience.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Responder/EMT certification or willingness to obtain
  • Industrial Hygiene and Behavior-Based Safety experience
  • Safety training experience and certification (30-hour, fall protection, LOTO, etc.)
  • OSHA Voluntary Protection Program experience
