Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel- Nebraska is looking to fill the position of Power System Technician. The Power System Technician will work with the production and maintenance teams in the selection, installation, maintenance, inspection, operation, and upgrade of mill equipment including, but not limited to, MCC’s, switch gear, cables, transformers, substations, Low Voltage Power Distribution, and High Voltage Power Distribution (transformers, reactors and SVC’s). The Power System Technician will provide technical expertise to the maintenance and operations teams through project leadership, predictive and preventative practices, arc flash coordination, breaker and fusing coordination, and hands-on capability to maintain the power systems. The Power System Technician will have an active role with the corporate power team to ensure best practices and reliability of the electrical systems and will be an electrical safety trainer. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience in the electrical power field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering with power emphasis or other pertinent training, certifications, or experience
- Melting, casting, or rolling process experience.
- Experience with short circuit studies including relay coordination, arc flash analysis, transient analysis, and harmonic analysis.
- AutoCad capability and experience programming microprocessor relays.
- Equipment upgrade, installation, and commissioning experience.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70E
