Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Nebraska is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Occupational Health Coordinator.  This is a professional position with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.  Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing medical care to injured and ill teammates onsite and seeing that the best continual care possible is received by coordinating with outside healthcare facilities
  • Administering workers compensation claim management
  • Coordinating with HR on sick leave and FMLA matters
  • Administering the plant drug and alcohol testing program
  • Managing the occupational medical programs including all industrial hygiene programs (Audiograms, Vision Tests, Respirator Testing, etc.)
  • Supporting other department roles as needed

 

This position requires a high level of detailed administrative work such as maintaining health and safety training records, inventory control of health and safety supplies and equipment, and organizing and scheduling plant-wide events and clinics. Candidates must be willing to further their education in areas such as advanced emergency medical training (including, but not limited to TNCC, EMT, and Advanced Burn Life Support) and OSHA training if there is no previous significant work experience in those areas.  This position will require occasional after-hours support and willingness to do some travel. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor Steel Nebraska will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

 

 

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Nebraska Licensed Nurse and/or Nebraska State Emergency Medical Technician 
  • Minimum 3 years related experience
  • No relatives employed at the Nucor Steel-Nebraska division (Nucor Corporation Policy No 21 B 3)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Occupational Health Experience
  • General Knowledge of Workers Compensation, OSHA, ADA, and FMLA
  • Paramedic Certification and/or Registered Nurse
