Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel – Nebraska is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Melt Shop Shift Mechanic. The role of the Melt Shop Shift Mechanic includes, but is not limited to, day-to-day mechanical maintenance, supporting production and other maintenance crews, daily use of the CMMS system, improving predictive and preventive maintenance, and eliminating downtime and waste. Work includes troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems, welding, rigging, fabricating, operating mobile equipment such as forklifts, cranes, manlifts, and scissor lifts. Candidates must be able to work scheduled/unscheduled overtime, weekends, nights and holidays. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Nucor Steel Nebraska will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

 

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree in maintenance or associated field; or two years industrial maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with work order management systems such as IFS, Ross, or Similar CMMS Systems
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and schematics.
