Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Nebraska (NSNE) is seeking a high-performing Accounting Manager to join our division leadership team. This role is responsible for leading the full scope of accounting and financial reporting activities for the division in accordance with GAAP. The Accounting Manager partners closely with operations, production, and department leaders to support safety, quality, profitability, and continuous improvement. This position provides both strategic and hands-on leadership within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and offers strong long-term growth potential within Nucor. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Nucor does not sponsor employment visas.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, tax, capital expenditures, product costing, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Manage the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with corporate and divisional requirements.
- Oversee internal controls and accounting processes; coordinate internal and external audit activities.
- Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing operations and serve as a financial partner to division leadership and department managers.
- Provide financial analysis and decision support to drive operational performance, cost reduction, and profitability.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities.
- Coach, develop, and support finance team members, preparing them for growth and future leadership opportunities.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business (Accounting emphasis), or a related field
- 5 years of accounting or finance experience
- 3 years of experience leading accounting or finance professionals, with responsibilities that include directing work, reviewing performance, providing coaching, and delivering performance feedback.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA, CMA, or MBA
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Experience supporting internal and external audits
- Manufacturing or cost accounting experience
- Advanced Excel and data-driven decision-making skills
- Interest in long-term career growth and leadership opportunities
- Willingness to relocate for future advancement
