Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor includes, but is not limited to, working closely with Vulcraft Nebraska teammates, contractors, and leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance, safety systems, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations. The EHS Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the Environmental programs for Vulcraft Nebraska and Nucor Cold Finish Nebraska and the Health and Safety programs for Vulcraft Nebraska. This includes taking a lead role in plant-wide culture building, environmental and safety management, training, audits, and community outreach. This position is responsible for interacting with all teammates to ensure understanding of and compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations. The EHS Supervisor is also responsible for developing and providing applicable training, ensuring compliance with key regulatory requirements, participating in corporate environmental, health and safety initiatives, and is also responsible for water treatment operations. This position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the safety, health, and environmental team. The EHS Supervisor is also responsible for overseeing and coordinating the contractor management program. The successful candidate must be in compliance with Nucor’s Personnel Policy #21 regarding relatives and personal relationships employment.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a Safety and/or Environmental position or bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health environmental or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
• First Responder/ EMT certification
• At least 2 years of prior experience in a leadership position
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health environmental or related field
• Environmental or occupational safety experience in an industrial setting
• Knowledge of waste water treatment operations
• Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, including industrial hygiene and testing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
