Ladleman

Basic Job Functions:

1. Understand components and workings of ladle slidegates
2. Able to read refractory wear on slidegate refractories
3. Able to read refractory brick wear in ladles
4. Able to read stir plug wear and replace stir plugs
5. Operate and troubleshoot Gas Pre-Heaters
6. Knowledge of proper hand and arm signals for crane communication

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Able to handle fast paced environment
2. Ability to work in extreme temperatures

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Basic understanding of refractory’s in steelmaking
2. Hand torch / oxygen lance experience
3. Bobcat/forklift operation experience
4. Light fabrication skills a plus (Arc Welding)
