Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Memphis is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented HR Administrator to join our Human Resources and Talent team.  The role of the HR Administrator includes coordination and execution of division benefits, leave of absence management, and providing HRIS support. The person in this role will be responsible for administering FMLA including coordination of company short-term sick pay and long-term disability plans. The desired candidate in this role will also take a lead role in providing HRIS guidance to users to help implement and maintain processes and procedures in support of NSMEM HR and business strategies.   The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of HR practices, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

In addition to the focus on safety the HR Administrator will:

  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with Nucor vision and values.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure all HR databases are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Oversee various employee benefit programs including medical, dental, life, sick pay and long-term disability, 401K, and flexible spending plans.
  • Handle employee inquiries and provide support on HR-related matters to all levels of teammates.
  • Act as backup to Payroll Administrator in times of absence or heavy workload.
  • Perform other related duties as needed in support of HR and business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of proven experience as an HR Administrator or other similar role
  • Extensive experience with web-based human resources platforms
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline with minimum of 5 years’ experience in HR role
  • Experience working in SAP/SuccessFactors
  • Experience in manufacturing HR support environment
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is a plus
