Basic Job Functions:

  • ·         Set up, operate, and adjust press brake machinery to bend, form, or straighten metal materials according to specifications.
  • ·         Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, work orders, and production instructions.
  • ·         Select proper tooling, dies, punches, and back gauges based on job requirements.
  • ·         Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, tape measures, protractors, and other precision tools to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • ·         Perform machine adjustments to maintain correct part dimensions and ensure consistent production output.
  • ·         Monitor machine operation and identify issues related to material, tooling, or equipment performance.
  • ·         Safely load and unload materials, following proper handling procedures.
  • ·         Maintain equipment by performing routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and reporting needed repairs.
  • ·         Keep work area cleaned and organized, following Nucor safety and housekeeping standards.
  • ·         Support other fabrication or production departments as needed based on workflow.
  • ·         Adhere to all safety policies, ensuring safe operation of machinery and equipment at all times.
  • ·         Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ·         5+ years of experience operating a press brake or similar metal fabrication equipment
  • ·         Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings
  • ·         Advanced understanding of measurements, fractions, and basic math
  • ·         Experience using hand tools and power tools
  • ·         Ability to use precision measurement instruments such as calipers, tape measures, and protractors
  • ·         Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ·         Previous experience working within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • ·         High school diploma or equivalent
  • ·         Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement practices
  • ·         Ability to read and use precise measurement tools to tight tolerances
