Basic Job Functions:

The Traffic Coordinator role involves overseeing the end-to-end logistics process, from vendor management and strategic planning to performance analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. The Traffic Coordinator will also be responsible for collaborating with production, quality, commercial, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate and on-time product deliveries, addressing any potential challenges proactively. Developing and implementing robust logistics strategies that ensure on-time, efficient order fulfillment, consistently meeting or exceeding monthly KPls. Lead initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, focusing on improving processes, reducing costs, and enhancing overall service delivery. Track and analyze logistics performance metrics, identifying key areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Manage relationships with external logistics providers, negotiating favorable rates, and ensuring high service standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with the sales team, providing timely updates on delivery schedules and resolving any issues to ensure satisfaction. Negotiate contracts with freight carriers, optimize rates, monitor budgets, and identify opportunities for market growth and cost savings. Data Analysis & Reporting: Maintain and analyze logistics data to assess performance, set goals, and track progress towards operational objectives. Handling carrier claims for rejected loads and building strong working relationships with carriers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2+ years logistics experience in truck, rail, and/or barge industries
  • OR a combination of related work experience and education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in logistics (TMS) software, ERP, Microsoft Office
  • Certifications in logistics or supply chain management
  • Steel industry experience
