Senior Accountant I

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Lexington is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Senior Accountant. This position is designed to develop the candidate into the next leader at Nucor so a successful candidate will have a desire to pursue advancement within the organization. The Senior Accountant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• All accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, tax, financial and compliance reporting, forecasting, costing files, inventory management, and recording and timely reporting of accounting records/transactions
• Driving continuous cost improvements across all aspects of the business
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies
• Coordination of external and internal audit processes and ensuring that proper internal controls are maintained
• Providing analytical support to other departments as it relates to accounting issues
• Coordinate month, quarter, and year end close procedures

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 4-year degree in Accounting or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in accounting roles or 3+ years’ experience in accounting roles plus a CPA or MBA

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA, MBA, and/or MACC
• Willingness to relocate for future opportunities throughout the Nucor entity
• Experience with data visualization/analytical tools such as Power BI
• Accounting experience in steel or other related manufacturing industries
• Oracle EBS experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Advanced experience with Excel
