Basic Job Functions:

The Nucor Lexington Rolling Mill Process Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, taking care of our teammates and customers by executing the division’s safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives. This includes owning process improvement efforts and supporting day-to-day operations in the Rolling Mill. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process and equipment issues. Lead root cause investigations and implement sustainable solutions. Utilize operational data to analyze performance, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations. Evaluate and implement automation and Industry 4.0 technologies to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency. Contribute to project planning by working with leadership to define scope, estimate budgets, and assess ROI. Maintain accurate technical documentation and support continuous improvement through design, execution, and refinement of systems. Support the Rolling Mill team during abnormal operating conditions and other duties as assigned. The Rolling Mill Process Engineer is expected to work a flexible schedule, including weekends. This is an exempt position and not eligible for overtime pay.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or similar technical field; or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or similar technical field.
  • 3+ years experience in an industrial setting.
  • Leadership experience.
