Nucor Rebar Fabrication is ready to build a world-class team as part of the launch of Nucor’s newest bar mill in Lexington, NC. Our fabrication shop will feature state-of-the-art machinery in a 100,000-square foot facility nestled in the beautiful scenery of Lexington, NC. Purpose: 
The Automation Engineer is responsible for collaborating with Maintenance and Production teams to maximize safety and optimize Nucor Rebar Fabrication processes.


Responsibilities:
•    Training team members across locations to support consistent performance and knowledge sharing.
•    Using engineering principles, algorithms and techniques to trouble shoot and improve both the process and equipment.
•    Developing and implementing improvement plans involving both hardware and software systems.
•    Providing support outside of normal business hours as needed, including flexible scheduling for unscheduled and scheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.
•    Assisting with regional maintenance initiatives and supporting cross-site collaboration.
•    Adapting to evolving responsibilities as assigned by the area Supervisor/Manager in response to operational needs.
•    Traveling regularly to other regional NRF locations to identify improvement opportunities, resolve issues, and share best practices.
•    Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Process, Electrical, Automation Engineering or related field OR
  • 2 years of industrial maintenance and automation experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferences:

  • aSa software experience
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in a reinforcing steel fabrication environment

 

Physical Demands:

  • Some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may be necessary
  • Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold

 

Special Demands:

  • Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety-sensitive position
  • Frequent travel to regional branches
