Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. The Strand Technician operates the mold, ladle, tundish, and control panel processes on the caster, ensuring accurate billet dimensions and identification for traceability and maintaining product flow through the cooling bed. Teammates must be willing to cross-train in other positions within the department and fill in as needed to support operational needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Ability to withstand working conditions with elevated temperatures.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy weight (50 lbs.)

  • Current or previous experience working in Melt Shop
  • 1 Year Casting Experience
