Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Texas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Occupational Health Coordinator. This is a professional position with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:
- Providing medical care to injured and ill teammates onsite and seeing that the best continual care possible is received by coordinating with outside healthcare facilities and workers compensation claim management.
- Leading the ERT rescue program.
- Teaching CPR and First Aid classes.
- Administering the plant drug and alcohol testing program.
- Managing occupational medical programs including administering audiograms and vision tests.
- Qualifying employees for respirator use through pulmonary function and fit testing.
- Managing the industrial hygiene program.
- Maintain and manage employee health records.
- Monitor and control inventory of health and safety supplies/equipment.
- Organize, coordinate, and schedule plant-wide events and onsite clinics.
This position requires after-hours support and willingness to travel.
Candidates must be willing to further their education in areas such as advanced emergency medical training (including, but not limited to EMT, and Advanced Burn Life Support) and OSHA training if there is no previous significant work experience in those areas.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Nationally Registered or Texas-certified EMS/Paramedic certification, and/or an active Texas Nursing license.
- Minimum 3 years EMS/Paramedic or Nursing experience.
- May not have any relatives (including but not limited to: Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Son, Daughter, Spouse, Father-in-law, Mother-in-law, Brother-in-law, Sister-in-law, Son-in-law, and Daughter-in-law) employed by Nucor Steel Texas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Occupational Health Experience.
- General Knowledge of Workers Compensation, OSHA, ADA, and FMLA.
- Community Paramedic Certification.
