Basic Job Functions:
We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Lab Supervisor. The role of the Lab Supervisor includes, but is not limited to:
- Supervise Sheet and BM lab technicians, including development and training, coordination of schedules, and handling issues.
- Maintain calibration of all sample preparation equipment and testing equipment, including preventative maintenance and calibration of certification equipment and tools located in the mill.
- Optimize turnaround time of lab results, automation, and reducing time between retests and expediting hot orders.
- Develop relationships with sales, operations, and IT teammates for expediting rush orders.
- Forecast necessary expenditures as they relate to the expansion of Berkeley’s production and product mix.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited University or equivalent
- Experience with mechanical testing principles
- Experience with steel or related industrial manufacturing processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Metallurgy or Materials Science/Engineering
- Entry-level knowledge in programming/database access
- Mechanical, Electrical, and software troubleshooting knowledge
- Basic knowledge of ASTM, JIS, and Euronorm testing standards, as well as automotive standards
- 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
