Basic Job Functions:

Examine, inspect, and measure raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.
•    Oversee multiple pieces of the mill running at the same time, must be able to operate in a safe manner. (Uncoiler, press, mill, cutoff)
•    Adjust and correct machine set-ups to reduce thicknesses, reshape products, and eliminate product defects.
•    Change rolls, operate mill equipment, load and band materials.
•    Monitor machine cycles and mill operation to detect jamming and to ensure that products conform to specifications.
•    Signal and assist other teammates to remove and position equipment, fill hoppers, and feed materials into machines.
•    Manipulate controls and observe dial indicators in order to monitor, adjust, and regulate speeds of machine mechanisms.
•    Thread or feed sheets through rolling mechanisms or start and control mechanisms that automatically feed steel into rollers.
•    Read orders and blueprints to determine setup specifications, work sequences, product dimensions, and installation procedures.
•    Set distance points between rolls, guides, meters, and stops, according to specifications.
•    Install equipment such as guides, guards, rolls, cooling equipment, using hand tools.
•    Position, align, and secure arbors, spindles, coils, mandrels, dies, and slitting knives.
•    Record mill production on schedule sheets.
•    Start operation of rolling and milling machines to form and to produce steel columns.
•    Fill reservoirs to ensure constant flow of metal coolants and lubricants onto workpieces.
•    Calculate press speed and roll speed to allow in sync running between the 2 pieces of equipment.
•    Able to grind with a hand grinder the butt weld of the 2 slits being fused to ensure no interference when travelling through the pre punch die.
•    Disassemble sizing mills removed from rolling lines, and sort and store parts.
•    Select rolls and dies from data charts to form specified gauge and profile to fabricate products.
•    Remove scratches and polish roll surfaces, using polishing stones and electric buffers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Worked in a warehouse or similar setting

A minimum of 2 years operating machinery
