Basic Job Functions:

SUMMARY:

The Material Handler is responsible for moving parts and materials to support production needs and loading sheet steel pallets into our STOPA sheet steel storage system.

  • Supply production area with needed materials from inventory.
  • Load materials to or from pallets moving to next operation.
  • Performs a maintenance check daily on the truck prior to its use and documents this activity.
  • Uses forklifts to move material.
  • Support production including projects directed by supervision.
  • Ensure operators have materials needed for production needs.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with pallet jacks and forklift for material handling.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and/or other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to squat, kneel and stand frequently.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digits numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one-year related experience or more and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Rytec parts.
