Janitor

Basic Job Functions:

The responsibilities of the Janitor include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Cleaning the facility common areas and restrooms, which includes sweeping, mopping, and removing trash.
• Removing debris, such as pallets and empty boxes throughout the facility.
• Assisting with setting up meeting rooms and moving tables, chairs, and furniture.
• Hauling off recyclable materials.
• Assisting with unloading incoming materials.
• Stock and maintain supply rooms.

• Ability to identify and proactively address housekeeping and safety concerns. 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing and industrial environment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment and tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous janitorial, custodial, or building services experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or inductrial setting.
• Experience operating floor scrubbers, sweepers, pressure washers, or similar cleaning equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping.
