Basic Job Functions:

The Safety & Health Coordinator will provide professional support to improve and sustain the industrial health and safety of all teammates. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining and reporting safety data – KPI statistics, training, compliance records, confidential records, safety management system, etc.
  • Working with state and federal safety regulations
  • Managing Voluntary Protection Partnership (VPP) Programs and implementing necessary practices
  • Analyzing compliance and auditing safety efforts
  • Coordinating, scheduling, tracking and/or delivering department/division training to include new hire orientation
  • Developing safe job analysis/procedures
  • Maintaining department webpage, digital signage and monitors
  • Coordination of company security, emergency response, loss prevention
  • Coordinating duties of Security Company at gate entrances and ensuring all relevant entry equipment is reliable
  • Communicating safety information (flyers, alerts, presentations etc.)
  • Assisting with planning and coordinating company activities and events
  • Performing responsibilities of a trained Radiation Safety Officer
  • Evaluating and monitoring the efficacy of Contractor safety programs and subsequent performance

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in safety related field

Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering or related field
  • Previous safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP), Safety, Safety Management Systems. Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, IBIH & other regulatory standards, protocols & compliance in order to create policies & procedures.
  • Emergency Medical Technician license (NREMT or KYEMT-B)
  • Proficiency in use of SharePoint and Microsoft Office suite of programs
