Basic Job Functions:

Provide leadership and direction for Production Planning, Inventory Management, and Shipment targets by coordinating hot side production to meet shipping targets, cold side work in progress inventory, and on-time delivery. Provide oversight of process improvement projects (working capital, cost, modeling and throughput optimization) and technical trainings in a complex industrial system with multiple product platforms, geographic locations, and supply options in the steelmaking industry. Direct or coordinate production, processing, distribution, or marketing activities of industrial organizations. Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints. Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems. Provide application of metal and alloy materials and technology to drive continuous improvement in terms of non-desired production and yield. Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports to detect production problems. Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets. Develop an effective strategy incorporating all departments in order to achieve production and shipment goals through a team-oriented and cooperative approach. Lead continuous improvement efforts and Develop logistics strategies to reduce freight costs, improve delivery performance, and control inventory. As needed, participate in freight negotiations and resolving freight discrepancies. Utilize management of forecast and model development and implementation to achieve shorter and competitive production lead times. Analyze logistics process and data to identify efficiency improvements. Build relationships with internal/external customers, carriers, and service providers to enhance logistics process. Participate in the training and supervision of new or transferred teammates; and oversee both senior consultants on assignment, and contract support staff. Apply implementation of flat steel scheduling models to optimize operations by maximizing product from steel mill to finished product. Responsible for coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback. Provide supply chain production planning and scheduling for flat products, including Melt Shops, high end service centers including oversight of logistic and execution function.

Minimum Requirements:

Candidate must have a Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Industrial Engineering and five (5) years of experience in supply chain management within the steel manufacturing industry. Experience must include: Oversight of process improvement projects (working capital, cost, modeling and throughput optimization) and technical trainings in a complex industrial system with multiple product platforms, geographic locations, and supply options in the steelmaking industry.
