Basic Job Functions:

Lab Technicians provide lab testing services to support production by providing timely and accurate testing, data input, and reporting of results to the production operators.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing chemical analysis of steel and slag samples, performing testing of mechanical properties, providing coating weight and coating adherence results on galvanized coils, housekeeping, and maintaining measuring equipment for valid and reliable analysis.  Lab Technicians may work a rotating shift schedule and work in a hot environment.  Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • High integrity
  • Ability to work swing shift and work overtime as needed.

  • Quality Control Analysis – Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Computer and Electronics – Knowledge of computers, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software for inputting data and reporting lab results.

Preferences:

  • Lab technician experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Associate’s degree in chemistry, metallurgy, or a related field
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025, ISO9001:2015 and IATF 16949 certification programs
